How to Use the Proximity Search Rule
When editing a monitor, the user can use the proximity search rule to find relevant data within the space of another word or phrase.
Included in the Edit monitor are rules on how to use the Proximity rules.
- Proximity allows you to match posts based on the proximity of 2 or more words (case insensitive).
- Proximity will look at before and after 4 keywords to find matches. (Twitter only allows a 2-word look before)
- For example, if the sentence is "Engineering has started to show videos of new research."
- You could match this sentence by adding "4 engineering videos". Because engineering and videos are within 4 words of each other.
The maximum limit for proximity search is 5 words from each other.
