We recently released a new alert system in order to provide a more reliable and customizable alert experience. This change automatically converted any existing alerts into the new alert format. In this article, we'll walk through the new changes and new additions to alert rules. While Nuvi's previous alert groups were static and non-customizable, our new Alerts system echos our Auto-Tagging system. This allows for much greater customization to better suit a client's specific needs.
Navigating to the Alerts Tab
In order to get to the alerts tab, a user would hover their mouse over the Listen tab, and select Alerts.
Creating a new Alert
To create a new alert, click on the green Add New Alert button under Mention or Volume depending on the type of alert. This will pull up an alert creation pop-up. Be sure to name the alert and select which monitor the alert is for.
Mention Alerts - Mention alerts more closely follow Monitor rule creation. Mention alerts allow for multiple rules and rule groups. After selecting Mention, the user will be prompted to create a new rule group. Once a rule is added, the user can choose parameters like keywords, contains, does not contain, add AND rules to their alert, and add additional rule groups.
Potential Mention alert rules contain:
- Mention Text (keywords/Phrases)
- Is Comment
- Is Retweet
- Country
- Language
- Network
- Tense
- Sentiment Score
- Subjectivity Score
- Vulgarity Score
- Author Bio
- Author Display Name
- Author Gender
- Author's Influencer Score
- Author # of Followers
- Author Username
- Mentioned Username (@user)
Note: Alerts saved with no rules( will default to alert on every mention pulled into a monitor.

After Saving:
Volume Alerts - Potential rules for Volume Alerts include:
- Total volume Increase (%)
- Total Volume Decrease (%)
- Positive Mention Volume Increase (%)
- Positive Mention Volume Decrease (%)
- Negative Mention Volume Increase (%)
- Negative Mention Volume Decrease (%)
Options - Once Rules are set, a user can change some behavioral traits of the alert. Via Options, a user can select to not send alerts during certain timeframes and to ignore mentions older than 1 - 7 days.
Note: If an alert is set to trigger off every mention, it's highly advised to turn on the "ignore mentions older than" rule. This way the selected recipients for your alert don't get alert bombed if a historical job pulls thousands of mentions.
Recipients - Select who the alert is sent to and how. Nuvi alerts can be sent via email, Slack, and SMS.
Click Save and the new alert should be good to go.
Please reach out to your account manager or Support@nuvi.com if you have any additional questions.
